Each ACPAR event consists of 3 sessions that can be attended individually.

The primary purpose of Advanced CPAR is to provide education, advocacy, leadership and support to the Account Representatives in all practice settings.
To achieve Advanced CPAR (ACPAR) status, you must fulfill the curriculum requirements by attending 5 (five) different Advanced CPAR sessions. The various sessions required to earn Advanced CPAR status will be offered periodically throughout the year in different areas of the state, as well as at each HFMA Institute. Credits toward Advanced will only be applied after you have passed CPAR.
Credit towards Advanced CPAR will only apply after one has passed CPAR and the Advanced CPAR classes are taken after the CPAR graduation date.
Procedure Guidelines for Advanced CPAR

Once you have passed the CPAR exam to obtain Advanced CPAR (ACPAR) certification, you must attend 5 (five) different Advanced CPAR sessions within a two-year period of time.
Example- CPAR passed in November 2008 – 2 ACPAR classes taken in January 2009 and 3 taken in May 2009, you would receive your ACPAR and would have until May 2011 to obtain 10 CEU/CPE’s in order to re-certify.
Example- CPAR passed in November 2006- 2 ACPAR classes taken in January 2009 and 3 taken January 2011, you would receive your ACPAR and would have until January 2013 to obtain 10 CPE’s/CEU’s in order to re-certify.

These 5 (five) sessions are earned by attending the Advanced CPAR sessions offered through Georgia HFMA at various locations throughout the state and at HFMA institutes.

You are responsible for maintaining your own continuing education records during your two-year Advanced CPAR certification period; be sure you receive a CEU form showing your attendance at these ACPAR sessions. HFMA will maintain a database with your record.

Once you have completed your required five Advanced CPAR sessions; you will receive an Advanced CPAR certificate and pin in approximately 60 days.

If you begin Advanced certification but do not obtain the required 5 sessions within a two-year period of time, you will be required to begin the Advanced CPAR classes over to obtain your 5 ACPAR classes.
Advanced CPAR Recertification Information
Renewal of your Advanced CPAR certification is required every two years. During the two-year certification period, you need to earn ten (10 CPE’s) continuing education hours. These hours are obtained by attendance at Georgia HFMA ACPAR classes; any sessions offered by Georgia HFMA at Institutes or Revenue Cycle/PFS Forum /Workshops.
If you do not re-certify within the two year period, you will no longer be Advanced CPAR and will not be able to use the ACPAR designation after your name. You will have to begin the Advanced CPAR classes again and obtain the 5 ACPAR classes within a 2 year period of time.
To calculate CEU’s/CPE’s take the number of minutes of the session you are attending and divide by 50, example: 2 hour session- 120 divided by 50= 2.4, do not include lunch and break times.
Procedure Guidelines for Recertification

Within two-year period of obtaining your Advanced CPAR, ten (10) continuing education hours are required for recertification. Example; ACPAR certificate dated December 31, 2009, then re-certification is due by December 31, 2011 and then to maintain re-certification continue re-certifying every two years.

Ten (10) continuing education hours from Georgia HFMA. The required sessions you can attend are ACPAR sessions (Do not attend the same ACPAR session within a year) and any sessions offered by Georgia HFMA at Institutes or Revenue Cycle/PFS Forum /Workshops.

You are responsible for maintaining your own continuing education records, be sure you receive a CEU form showing attendance at these educational sessions . HFMA will also keep a record in their database.

Once the required 10 CEU/CPE’s are met, within 60 days you will receive your recertification notice and an expiration sticker to be attached to the front of your Advanced CPAR certificate.

If Advanced re-certification has not been met within the two year period the ACPAR status will be revoked and you will have to obtain the 5 ACPAR classes again.
